Book Based Panther (BBP) Charter and rules

Charter and Rules

Group Charter Tribes who are members of this group agree to conform to the set of Role Play standards defined below when interacting with BTB Gor groups. These principles, or protocols,  will be included as a subset within each tribes own SIM RP rules, ensuring they will conform to the genre of the books of Gor; details of these are published on Panther of Gor Web site.  The object to promote rich and fair Gorean role play.

The most important rule that will be considered a given is – at all times behave with common sense and respect. Much of the drama we experience is due to limits being exceed, we will enforce clarity of this by ensuring all tribe members if not BBP Group will have IN CAPITAL LETTERS in their limits that they will not participate in BBP Role Play as a given.

Panther Raid/Rescue rules:

Any Panther on SIM that is not a group member of BBP can participate in defending camp, will accept binds but have a clear statement in limits they will not RP with BTB SIM’s and will not sail; only BBP members will play full RP.

Group members captured agree to abide to rules of the BTB SIM they are taken (with the exceptions – this will be to the principles of Gor genre; this does not include SL BSDM style extensions such as RLV or any other personally intrusive non Gor play)

If BTB SIM has no panther raids rule we will not attack – if panther raids are allowed only BBP members will attack (unless individual SIM rules specify differently)

If a SIM has no panther raids – to allow escapes a BTB SIM could be infiltrated by a maximum of 3 panthers entering a SIM in disguise; we can take captives when freeing a panther but they will be under the terms below for capture role play, defined in point 2 (but BTB godmodding by profile reading is not allowed and will spoil the intension of enhanced RP scenarios we are intending to enable)

If we do attack BTB cities then slaves cannot use weapons only lock pick and aid etc

Trades to free panthers in BTB SIM’s will be guaranteed after 3 days capture (unless OOC agreed or individual panthers have over riding personal limits set to longer)

Capture Role Play for BTB Freemen and Women:

BTB FM and FW maybe beaten/tortured but not sexually abused unless OOC agreed, BTB panthers did not enslave and keep men, they abused, used men and then sold; and despised FW and slaves.

As with Panthers not wishing to RP with BTB SIM’s any FM/FW not wishing to RP with BBP will put in limits statement, must accept binds but not will not be sailed.

When no raid/rescue occurs, a FM/FW will always have a trade to free them accepted within 1 day, or released in 3 days. (unless OOC agreed or individual players have over riding personal limits set to longer)

FM/FW will not be forced to slavery nor branded (unless OOC agreed), panthers did not brand, but a captive may be traded to another BTB SIM’s

Character Role Play:

There were no mixed sex individuals in the Gor genre, Panthers will always play and present in normal female roles at all times.

People would rarely choose death as an alternative to a mock acceptance of the circumstances they found themselves in, to then plot escape or expect rescue (Red caste and FW may choose death); so forced submission would be seen by their tribes as a necessity to hold on to life, and hence hope of eventual freedom.

Weapons and Damage Thresholds:

Panthers used weapons appropriate to their sex and hence strength, these include; Approved Weapons are bows, panga’s, machetes, knives, whips, spears – no warrior type swords – In reality they are all the same scripts it is only prim shape that differs. The damage thresholds will be defined by individual SIM rules, and are linked to local SIM set up’s i.e. Direct, half and full splash SIM choices; we will obey the strike strength as defined each in each SIM rules.

RP Dispute Resolution:

We will re-constitute the Council of En’s; each BBP Tribe will have its En on the Council, any foul play or disputes can be reported to this group for judgment and if required subsequent action against any tribe or player for foul play; and we would expect the same level of open and fair judgment from any BTB SIM with which we interact.

Interaction with GE Groups:

When interacting with GE groups BBP tribes will follow individual SIM GE rules.

  1. “be put in binds, but will not be sailed”?
This is the most perfect way to waste my time and ensure I have Absolutely Nothing to do with any “btb” person. If there’s No possibility of my being sailed, i will refuse binds, remove my meter and tp out. This is a BAD idea for a rule.

  2. “panthers despised slaves… Didn’t brand…” tali. Sayu. Aiden. Etc etc etc. (oh, and that rule just nixed all reasons for any interaction with ANY “free” ever.

  3. reading all this just put me in a really, Really bad mood, and pretty much guaranteed I’ll never set foot on another “btb” sim, or interact with any “btb” people again.

  4. People would rarely choose death as an alternative to a mock acceptance of the circumstances they found themselves in, to then plot escape or expect rescue (Red caste and FW may choose death); so forced submission would be seen by their tribes as a necessity to hold on to life, and hence hope of eventual freedom. <<< unless they were bipolar (manic/depressive to begin with and were snatched from "urth" and brought here without their medication… just sayin. there are no absolutes…

  5. Maybe you did not understand; we have people in tribes who do not wish to play with men; who do not wish to RP in BTB SIM’s so if a tribe is attacked they can protect camp and be bound but not sail; so just as now all you do is put in limitss you won’t play with BTB and they won’t sail you; what is the big deal it is no different than it is today. To your other point if your RP is happy with death as a scenario then fine is your game. Suggest you read the story line.

It is not killing GE there are too many outlaw ; merc etc pew pew gamers for that, but it is allowing those of us who like a little of the GE changes inside our tribes not to stop us being able to play with BTB SIM’s by some of the more extreme excesses of GE.

As a last point none of this is compulsary that is why there is an opt out you don’t want to RP full on this way then fine there is a trap door which means your game goes on exactly as it is today; no problemo

  7. to the point of the entire document, though, I personally don’t have a problem playing on either type of sim. and my “limits” pretty much fit both, so when I read it, I was looking at it as additional rules I personally didn’t need. (exceptions, of course, and I don’t go to those sims at all) but if all this has become so large an issue that there need to be “bridge rules” for GE and BTB to play together, it MUST be a problem a lot of people have. (I just happen to not be one of them)
