From the Editor’s Desk (by Frey)

A kajira’s plea…..TAKE GOR BACK!

• When I sat down to write this, I thought it best to tell you a bit about myself so that you understand where this personal view point comes from. I hope to be allowed the opportunity to write more editorials in which I can explain where my viewpoint comes from a bit more, but for the purpose of today’s article, I am keeping is simple.

• I am called Frey, and I am Kajira. It is that simple, there is not more to it… I serve with all that I am for the pleasure of men. A simple concept taken from simple books. I’ve heard many say that the books are poorly written, but I say, they are simple for a reason. In my eyes Norman is a genius, the man has conquered one of the most difficult obstacles in that he is open to criticism over his writing in the interest of keeping it basic.

• This week’s editorial is a rather important one for me. It is a call out to all Lifestylers, it’s a call out to all who observe honor, it’s a call out to all who believe in the simplest concept of Norman’s Gor series: Men rule and women serve. Simple Basic. Natural. Beautiful. So, why is it that SL Gor has wandered so very far off this simple path?? My answer is this.. we have been lazy. The SL Gor men have stopped holding the women to their true calling; and the SL Gor women have pushed men aside to take power. There are a million causes and justifications of this problem.. and I am not here to discuss them, maybe that’s a different issue.

• I am here to beg the men to TAKE GOR BACK.. I can testify, as a kajira.. no princess slave is a happy slave. No master who does not have control is a happy master. I truly believe that both sides are ready and willing to correct our SL Gor and get it back on track. Egos might prevent the admission of this, but it is still a fact that men rule and women serve. Therefore, I call to the men, the Masters, Reclaim Gor… draw the line and hold it there. Stop letting your slave or companion control you and step up and dominate. I call to the women, both Kajira and Fee alike, stop controlling the men, give them a chance to rule without your nit picking them into submission.

• Far too often I have been told that you all take Gor seriously but have given up on seeing SL Gor reflect the true Gorean culture. And to that I say “Boskshit”. You gave up in the face of a little adversity, you got lazy. And now here we are. Men, it’s time to grab that chain and yank it hard, whip your little princess slut until she shuts her mouth. Women, shut your mouths, put your hand at his back and support him in this fight to TAKE GOR BACK!!!

• Here’s my problem with my editorial, I am opening my mouth. But I do so out of my love and passion for Gor and the frustration of watching it be dishonored. Yes, I may take a whipping over this one, but this Kajira is willing to be punished for what she begs for. Again, I beg you; I plead to you… TAKE BACK GOR AND HOLD THAT LINE.

The Pilgrimage to the sardar Palisades (by Minnie)

• GOR is not only an epicenter of battles. There are multiple places where blossoms Roleplays. that reflect the great passages from the books of Norman. And through my travels in high places Gorean, a large ceremonial had to be presented: The Pilgrimage to the sardar Palisades. A long walk made real for nine days and will cover thirteen SIMs, a majestic RP which plunges us into an adventure worthy of the largest epic film productions. For this great pilgrimage, everything has been planned. Those wishing to make that journey could sleep with the caravan, eating at different passages. This has become more than just RP. We are dealing with a large company that has a lot of effort for the organizers.

• The initiator of this project is Terek (Kitten Serpente). Terek is about 275 years old. His father was a successful import/export Merchant in the city of Bazi. After joining the Initiates at age 12, he spent many decades away from the life of ordinary cities at the Great Sardar Temple as a scholar and writer. Over the years, he has been sent by the Great Temple to serve in various City Temples, including Piedmont, Herlit, Tabor, Shrine Valley, Turia, and Vigo. He is currently High Initiate of the Temple of Two Scimitars.

• The person playing Terek has been RPing a BtB initiate in SL Gor for seven years, and has written several books for SL roleplayers on RPing an initiate, and interacting in RP with initiates: the _Book of the White Caste_ ( revised ) with information from the Gor novels, the _Initiates Roleplay Handbook_ on how to RP an Initiate, and the _Book of Liturgies_ which includes sample rituals for most of the standard events, such as the four major yearly festivals. My sim also has the Great Temple, a BtB Gorean temple, and the largest library of information on the Initiate Caste in SL. Anyone is welcome to visit and study there.

An interview with the Initiate Terek , who leads the Great Pilgrimage:

– Minnie: Tal Terek, I am Min

• Terek: Tal and Greetings

• Terek: What would you like to know about the Pilgrimage?

– Minnie: first, i m neophyte in this ceremonial

• Terek nods

– Minnie: can you at explain me and at our readers, the goal of this walk

• Terek: In the Scrolls of Norman, he writes that each free Gorean, before his or her 25th birthday, is required to journey to the Palisade at the Sardar Mountains to offer worship and honor to Priest-Kings. The Initiate Caste enforces this and keeps lists of who goes. Many cities also enforce the demand through secular administration as well, and if the young people do not go, deny them citizenship and even drive them out of the city. Of course, in SL, this is not carried out. *chuckles*

– Minnie: What is the initiate Caste

• Terek: The Initiate Caste is the highest of the High Castes in the city cultures of southern Gor, basically the priesthood. The initiates are considered to be the intermediaries between the Holy Ones and the rest of Gor and to interpret the will of the gods to men.

– Minnie: you said all free people before 25th birthday, even in Ge world ? Or this ceremonial is only for BTB

• Terek: In the books, it is described, so it would depend whether any particular city wanted to follow the novels in that or not.

– Minnie: What would be the benefits for people who ll do the walk. And if a city doesn’t want send young people do the walk, what could happen

• Terek: BTB, it would give them the right to swear to their city’s Home Stone and become full citizens. In SL — it will be a fun and unusual roleplay for a full week. Again, in the books the Initiates were a powerful caste with swords at their disposal, and usually the people, especially the low castes believe inj the power of the Priest-Kings, so they would be afraid not to obey the Initiates.

– Minnie smiles and nods *What ll be your role during this walk

• Terek: I will be leading the Pilgrimage — traveling with the pilgrims, giving small services along the way, and several major rituals once we reach the Sardar foothills in Klepios Valley. At Klepios, we will have a ritual for En’Var, one of the four major yearly festivals of civilized Gor, in my own Great Temple.

– Minnie: The walk begins in city of Tor and ends in Sardar. Could all people come (in respect of the rules) see the depart and the arrival and maybe admire your temple

• Terek: Yes, all would be welcome to come for any part or all of the journey. All free may attend the Temple service and the bosk sacrifice on Sunday at the Sardar Palisade. Slaves are welcome as well. The only restriction is they can’t enter the temple, but they can listen outside and cam in, and they can attend the sacrifice at the Palisade, which is outdoors.

– Minnie: Sacrifice ? Could you tell me more about those sacrifices

• Terek: Yes. On Sunday, June 21, at the Sardar Fairgrounds I will offer (kill ) a white bosk heifer to Priest-Kings, as described in the books. Bosk and verr were sacrificed — killed as gifts to Priest-Kings for various benefits, and to read the omens and see whether the PKs approved of an action, or if the results would be favorable.

– Minnie: i ve read that the walk is during 9 RL days, it s a long RP and could be very interesting to see all

• Terek: The RP will depend a lot on the people who come with us. The main parts are the Beginning in Two Scimitars when the pilgrims are anointed and dedicated, and the events at the last Saturday and Sunday. The rest of the week is RPing the actual journey which the eal pilgrims would have to take to reach the Sardars. This is a new and unique RP — the first time in SL that people can actually RP walking or riding from one part of Gor all the way to the Sardars. It covers 13 contiguous sims, so there will only be one TP after we get to Tor. I did it last year, and hope to do it every year if I can. But this will be the first time we can RP a realistic journey without teleports over many different sims representing different parts of Gor.

– Minnie: I want thank you for your answers and some of our reporters will come to this event and cover the walk

• arax: We have walked the trail to test it out. There will be a LOT of land to cross, due to the artistic way each sim’s trail is laid out. there will be hazards on the trail and people to interact with, inns to stay at and so on.

• Terek: Yes — we will even cross some panther territory *smiles at Minnie*

• arax: At each stop there are G&S farms and such, so that people can relisdtically buy food, rest their animals, even buy replacement tharlarions (G&S doesn’t have kaiilas yet)

• arax: The climb through the Archimedes Pass is a realistic trek through and over a forbidding mountain range, but we will also visit the hilltop Fortress. Will we be greeted as friends at this, our most vulnerable stop on the trip? We don’t know!

• Terek: OOC, we have not arranged for any bandits or raids, and we only have a few warriors with us, but IC we will be traveling through many dangerous lands, and people would be facing hazards of all kinds. We’re not *asking* for raiders, I’m saying…

– Minnie nods

• Terek: We don’t want to lose any pilgrims along the way *smiles*. Thanks for he interview.

– Minnie: Thank you more for the interview And i will be in Tor to see the depart

• arax: The sacrifice will also be different from most offered in SL Gor. You will see the animal on the platform, you will see it slain by a Facilitator, and you will see the omens taken, the organs lifted and examined and cast into the fire. VERY realistic.

• Terek: Priest-Kings bless you.

– Minnie smiles softly

• arax: This beast wishes you well, Mistress.

• Terek: I wish you well.

– Minnie: Be well, be safe and have a safe return path

Hear the words of the Priest-Kings (by Minnie)

• On her nineteenth birthday, members of the Caste of Initiates had appeared at the door of the leather worker’s hut. It had been decided that she should now undertake the journey to the Sardar, which, according to the teachings of the Caste of Initiates, is enjoined on every Gorean by the Priest-Kings, an obligation which is to be fulfilled prior to their attaining their twenty-fifth year. If a city does not see that her youth undertake this journey then, according to the teachings of the Initiates, misfortunes may befall the city. It is one of the tasks of the Initiates to keep rolls, and determine that each youth, if capable, discharge this putative obligation to the mysterious Priest-Kings.

• It is a custom of the Initiates of Teletus, and of certain other islands and cities, it the youth agrees to go to the Sardar when they request it, then his, or her, family or guardians, if they wish it, will receive one tarn disk of gold. Ute knew that the leather worker, and his companion, could well use this piece of gold. Besides, she knew will that, some year, prior to her twenty-fifth year, such a journey must be undertaken by her. The Merchants of Teletus, controlling the city, would demand it of her, fearing the effects of the possible displeasure of the Priest-Kings on their trade. If she did not undertake the journey then, she would be simply, prior to her twenty-fifth birthday, removed from the domain of their authority, placed alone outside their jurisdiction, beyond the protection of their soldiers. Such an exile, commonly for a Gorean, is equivalent to enslavement or death. For a girl as beautiful as Ute it would doubtless have meant prompt reduction to shameful bondage, chains and the collar. Further, on other years, there would be no piece of gold to encourage her to undertake this admittedly dangerous journey.

• “Some six young people, in white garments, passed me. They would stand before the palisade, paying the homage of their presence to the mysterious denizens of the Sardar, the mysterious Priest-Kings, rulers of Gor. Each young person of Gor is expected, before their twenty-fifth birthday, to make the Pilgrimage to the Sardar, to honor the Priest-Kings. These caravans come from all over known Gor. Most arrive safely. Some are preyed upon by bandits and slavers. More than one beauty who thought to stand upon the platforms by the palisades, lifting laurel wreaths and in white robes, singing the glories of the Priest-Kings, has found herself instead looking upon the snow-capped peaks of the Sardar from the slave platforms, stripped and heavily chained.” _Beasts of Gor _ p.47

• The Initiates of the Great Temple, together with the Blue Flame Council, are preaching a pilgrimage for all who have not yet carried out their sacred obligation to journey to the Sardar Mountains, home of the sacred Priest-Kings. We call all to obedience to the command of the Holy Ones. Those who wish to go should prepare themselves with prayers and rituals, either by themselves or under the guidance of the Initiates of their City Temple. The goal of the Pilgrimage is to reach the Palisade before the Sardar Gate at the time of the Festival of En’Var, the Summer Solstice (June 21st by the barbarian reckoning of Earth ).

Morning Devotions Oasis of Two Schimitars

• In the early morning hours, Arax, slave to the high initiate Terek, works carefully to see that the Blessed One’s house and temple is left in the capable hands of Senek. These two slave make detailed preparations to ensure the Blessed One is well prepared for his journey.

• Arax then assists Terek with the purifying in preparation for the Pilgrimage.
The High Initiate and the temple slave enter into the water, quite cold in the desert morning air, and stand beneath the waterfall, to wash

DEVOTIONS IN SCIMITARS TEMPLE

Many gather and greet for the ceremony and when Terek begins, all fall silent in respect.

• Terek (kitten.serpente): The Initiate stands outside the entrance of the Temple and bows his head toward the symbol of the Eternal Circle of Priest-Kings which is beyond the Temple door over the altar. He says,”As Lar-Torvis, whose brilliance is the gift of Priest-Kings, rises at dawning, let us gather here this morning to honor the Holy Ones.

• Terek (kitten.serpente): The Initiate gestures to the temple slave to strike the ringing bar three times, saying after each peal:

• Terek (kitten.serpente): Lar-Torvis has risen once again above the horizon. Thanks be to Priest-Kings.”

• Terek (kitten.serpente): “Lar-Torvis has risen once again into the bowl of heaven. Praise be to Priest-Kings.”

• Terek (kitten.serpente): “Lar-Torvis shines again upon Gor, the Home Stone, Glory be to Priest-Kings.”

• arax (araxxaxx.bayn) picks up the censer

• Terek (kitten.serpente): The Initiate turns to those gathered before the Temple and says: “Be reverent before Priest-Kings.”

• Terek (kitten.serpente): *The Initiate walks slowly forward to the door of the Temple, preceded by the thurifer. He stops at the door to the Temple. The thurifer continues into the Temple and incenses the interior as the Initiate performs the ritual of purification.*

• arax (araxxaxx.bayn) turns and enters the Temple to incense the room

• Terek (kitten.serpente): The Initiate raises his hands toward the Eternal Circle above the altar inside the Temple, and says: “Holy and immortal Priest-Kings, accept the offering of your anointed one before your altar this morning. Send your favor upon this your servant, and grant that my prayers to you may be heard.”

• Terek (kitten.serpente): The Initiate turns to the lavabo-bowl. He washes his hands in the water of purity and dries them above the flame of sanctification, reciting as he does so the prayer of purification: “Priest-Kings, holy and mighty, purify me, I pray you.”

• arax (araxxaxx.bayn) goes to kneel in his corner quietly

• Terek (kitten.serpente): “This day, purify my mind, that I may know your Truth and proclaim it.”

– This day purify my heart, that I may show your love and mercy to all.
– This day purify my hands, that I may help and heal all who are in any need.
– This day purify my ears, that I may hear your voice and obey
– This day purify my feet, that I may walk in the way you have set for me to follow.
– This day purify my whole being that nothing unclean may touch or enter it.”

• Terek (kitten.serpente): He touches his lips with the blessed water so that his mouth may be purified to speak the words to the Holy Ones. bows his head and exclaims: “Hear me, Priest-Kings! This day and always, make me truly your blessed one, that I may perfectly serve your Will.”

• Terek (kitten.serpente): He walks forward through the white railing to the altar and casts a measure of incense into the brazier burning there. He makes the sign of the Eternal Circle of Priest-Kings,holds up his hands again to the Holy Ones and chants in a loud, clear voice:

• Terek (kitten.serpente): “Hail, Priest-Kings immortal! Come, attend us now, we pray you, within your holy Temple.”

• Terek (kitten.serpente) shouts: “Praise be to You, Priest-Kings, holy and mighty,
Who have brought us safely through night’s darkness to the dawning of this new day.
Rejoice, rejoice, all you who hear; this day is their gift. ”

• Terek (kitten.serpente) shouts: “Here before you, in the brightness of the morning sunlight, we give you thanks for the wonders of the world. Let any who wish to give thanks for special favors granted, speak now before Priest-Kings”

• Terek (kitten.serpente): Thank to the Holy Ones that we have survived the impious attack of those without Caste who have attacked us this morning, and that plans for the Pilgrimage go forward.

• Terek (kitten.serpente): Thanks for the piety and honor of those of our city, and those who join us for this great adventure.

• Terek (kitten.serpente) turns back to the altar to continue.

• Terek (kitten.serpente) shouts: “Blessed are you, Holy Ones, in all the natural world, which shows forth your abundant gift to us:
Stability of stone in your sacred Sardar mountains,
Stone which bears the weight of the world;

• Terek (kitten.serpente) shouts: “Grace of water in storm and stillness, in rain, dew, and snow,
in the great rivers, and shining Thassa, the sea;
And most particularly in the pure waters of this Oasis,
which sustain life in the barren desert of the Tahari.

• Terek (kitten.serpente): “Bounty of earth, which brings forth both bread and beauty,
To be food for body and mind, for all, in the endless cycle of being;

– Sweetness of air, which is necessary for all life;
– Power of fire, which both warms us, and destroys those who violate your just commands.

• Terek (kitten.serpente) shouts: “Blessed are you in your created world, Priest-Kings, holy and mighty.

– Receive you now the praise of your anointed one.

• Terek (kitten.serpente) The Initiate continues: “Blessed are you, Holy Ones, in all your creatures who have the breath of life:
With every breath they praise you:

• Terek (kitten.serpente) : “All your wild things: fierce larl and savage sleen, sea-tharlarion and mighty kailliauk,
to the tiny urt nibbling at the grain bins;
Kaiila and tarn, proud companions to man;
Vulo, verr, and tarsk, and all the humble servants of man;
And the great bosk whose herds darken the Turian plains —

• Terek (kitten.serpente) shouts: “You bring them to birth,
You hold them in the hollow of your hand all their days,
You close their lives in due season, according to your purpose.

• Terek (kitten.serpente) shouts: “Blessed are you in all your breathing beings, Priest-Kings, holy and mighty.
Receive you now the praise of your anointed one.

• Terek (kitten.serpente) The Initiate continues in the same tone: “Blessed are you, Holy Ones, in all humankind,
male and female, free and slave

– From the highest to the lowest, of every Caste and City,
– Those of whatever station to which it has pleased you to call them:
– With every breath they praise you.
– Their lives show forth your mercy and your might
– Obedient to your will, according to your command.

• Terek (kitten.serpente) shouts: “Most particularly, look with favor upon this Oasis of Two Scimitars and all within its gates.

– Bless its citizens, their children, beasts, properties and households.
– Give to them all their various necessities of life,

• Terek (kitten.serpente) shouts: “In your hands we place our hope of safety. Keep your people, we do beseech you, in health of body, mind, and spirit, through your benevolent mercy. Hold us all ever within the powerful protection of your golden Eternal Circle.

• Terek (kitten.serpente): “This day also we ask that you will keep close to us the memory of those who have gone to other lands, and especially those who have passed before us to the Cities of Dust. May those memories be for us a light in the darkness of our loss, and a warmth in the cold winter of our loneliness. Send your mercy, Holy Ones, on those present, and those absent from us, and keep us as one family together in mutual loyalty and love,”

• Terek (kitten.serpente) shouts: “Guard us in all our ways, keep us from disobedience to your will.

– Set your straight path before us, and prosper us in all that we do according to your command.”

• Terek (kitten.serpente) shouts: “Blessed are you in all humankind, Priest-Kings, holy and mighty.

– Receive you now the praise of your anointed one”.

• Terek (kitten.serpente) shouts: He adds in a quiet and somber tone of voice: “Preserve us this day and always, we beseech you, from your anger in the Sacred Affliction and the dreadful Flame Death.”

• Terek (kitten.serpente) shouts: The Initiate pauses a moment for the gravity of that request to be set apart from all the other prayers for the people of the City, then continues; “Hear me, Priest-Kings, as I present my petitions before you for this coming day: ”

• Terek (kitten.serpente): The Initiate adds, “Priest-Kings, mighty ones, Hear also all your people as they present their own petitions before you for this coming day.” He turns to the people gathered in the Temple and says:

• Terek (kitten.serpente): “Let any here present who wish gifts from Priest-Kings, or guidance in their ways as they go forth to this new day, speak now before them.” He pauses for a time to allow any of the people who wish to speak aloud or say silently those things they wish to ask from Priest-Kings.

• Terek (kitten.serpente): Holy Ones, send your favor upon those who will begin their long and dangerous journey to the Sardar Mountains this day, and keep them safe as they travel.

• Terek (kitten.serpente): While we are gone, do not forget this, your city, and these, your people whom we leave behind. Keep them also in health, safety, and prosperity.

• Terek (kitten.serpente): Grant to our Administrator and the Council wisdom to rule well for the benefit of all.

• Terek (kitten.serpente): Give to our noble and honorable warriors strength and skill to keep our walls secure and guard our people from any danger.

• Terek (kitten.serpente): Give to our physicians skill and knowledge to cure any illness or accident which may befall our people.

• Terek (kitten.serpente): Give to our merchants, both those in the City and those away on caravan, good coin and success in trade.

• Terek (kitten.serpente): Give to our Ambassador and those now struggling with diplomatic activities the ability to lead us to success in negotiations and all our relations with foreign cities.

• Terek (kitten.serpente): And favor our Slavers, that they and the kennels may prosper with good slaves,

• Terek (kitten.serpente): Keep this, your City, safe while we are gone. He repeats that strongly.

• Terek (kitten.serpente) lowers his head and prays “And grant the one taken by the raiders may be safely recovered.”

• Terek (kitten.serpente) takes a deep breath and continues to finish the devotions so the rescue may procede.

• Terek (kitten.serpente) The Initiate concludes the prayers before the altar with the words: “Most particularly, as your anointed one, grant that I may act in all things to your honor and glory, and to the benefit of those you have given me to serve in this City and Temple. May this offering before your altar this day, and these prayers, be acceptable in your sight. Hear me, Priest-Kings!”

– Terek(kitten.serpente) *The Initiate casts a second measure of incense into the brazier on the altar and turns toward the door of the Temple. He blesses the people with the sacred circle of Priest-Kings, saying: “Morning devotions are completed. You may depart now. Go forth from the Temple of the Holy Ones, secure in the favor of Priest-Kings, to this day.”

“Ta Sardar Gor!”

• Terek (kitten.serpente): The Initiate walks slowly out of the Temple, concluding the service.

Interview with FredrickLordSavannah Nightfire, the Sultan of Tor (by Frey)

I had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with the Sultan of Tor the other day. I found him to be a serious Gorean, strong leader, and fair minded man. It was my first experience in a desert cultured city and I must admit, my real life feet felt the warm of the sand beneath them. The city is well built, very inviting, and located at the gate of the Tahari where over 1000 caravans stop daily. I knelt along side the Sultan’s two beautiful and obedient slaves while he answered the following questions for me.

• Frey: My first request is to ask you to Please introduce yourself to our readers. Include your name as you would like it in the article, your sim name and your position.

• FredrickLordSavannah Nightfire: I am Al-Haroum, Sultan of the city of light of the Tahari, the city of Tor.

• Frey: thank you and Please describe where your city is located and include any pertinent landmarks.

• FredrickLordSavannah Nightfire: at the edge of the Tahari you find Tor. one foot sitting in the desert, the other in the plains., we can say like this. However is a city of the desert, immersed in the dunes. Tor have this sim that is the whole city and a next one that is the Tahari Ridge. Where we have the Caravans Camp and the Farms.

• Frey: I see, and are you BTB or other? and do you observe Home Stone and Caste System cultures?

• FredrickLordSavannah Nightfire: This to be BtB as Tor is no war or raid. It is a trade city, but there at the Ridge we also have the Fort that defends the city. Tor is one of the three oldest gorean cities … we have been here for over nine years. It’s been hard, but Tor have a core of old citizens that makes us strive every day to keep it Old School.

• Frey: Why would you be the perfect choice for Goreans, what sets you aside from others?

• FredrickLordSavannah Nightfire: We are and we will be of the Tahari. Eccentric in our special ways, mild in comparison with the North, strict on the gorean laws that should command us. We are not aside, each place has its own ways…we are what we are. It is the people’s choice, and when they prefer to be close to panther camps to hunt than the choice does not include Tor as we prefer realistic flowing RP.

• Frey: What would you say is the main source of income for this fair city and what products are produced here that you would export to other lands of Gor.

• FredrickLordSavannah Nightfire: We have a open Souk where gorean merchants (and others) can sell their goods, we have every two weeks a Good Will Fair and Auction (G%S goods), we have a village where we rent houses, we have the taxes of the caravans, we have the farms, and we have the citizens taxes. All together makes a city rich. Dates, salt, oranges, olives, rugs and carpets, you name it, we trade it.

• Frey: Would you like to make any statements or comments about your lands or any Aspects of Gorean Life?

• FredrickLordSavannah Nightfire: Let me add something, we are true goreans and we have been known as a startup sim by many. Here we give the first notions of what is to be gorean – to Free and to slaves. The call outside, for easier ways, is what is corrupting Gor… we will be like this always, or death.

• Frey: meaning you mentor and train new comers to gor?

• FredrickLordSavannah Nightfire: Exactly, we help all that seek to enter Gor properly. And we are multi lingual, we have people here from all places… USA, South America, Canada, Europe, etc. I speak four or five languages, and all here are prepared to assist (points to the girls). Survival of Gor depends on people understand that there is only one way … keep Old School of Gor alive. Without that the new forms of the so called Gor will die easy. And we are one of the last bastions of that. Tor has the most complete collection of gorean information in the Library, it’s well known, and most of the new cities come here to “drink” the scrolls for their Libraries. We have the biggest arena of Gor, we are the only city that has a art gallery. We have the most complete Clinic and Greens that covers all the needs, and the Academy is also well known. We have been keeping Gor alive.

 The pilgrimage, roving reporter (Hathor)

– An interview with Holy One Thulsa Dhum done in City of Tor

• Hathor01: might ask what, if anything, precipited your choice to become an Initiate?

• Hathor01: or is that too personal to ask Holy One

• Thulsa Dhum (cutulu): cause I like this kind of rp , i like esoterism, religions and such ,,, I’m historian in RL

• Hathor01: an, yes I can see how that would follow Holy One

• Hathor01: I am a bit gnorant, the book did not give a lot of information about the Caste of Initiates in the books about the Caste

• Hathor01: your duties are to see to the religious ways to be followed by the Free and slaves?

• Hathor01: your dutes are to see to the religious ways to be followed by the Free and slaves?

• Thulsa Dhum (cutulu): the free

• Thulsa Dhum (cutulu): slaves has no importance at all, like animals

• Hathor01: yes Holy One

• Hathor01: It is my understanding a pilgrimage is required once a year for the Free?

• Thulsa Dhum (cutulu): in SL i’m not sure what people do, but in books all free should go on pilgrimage before their 25th anniversary ,,, only once ,,, but all are encouraged to go more times

• Hathor01: Holy One, anythng you would like to add about this Pilgrmage?

• Thulsa Dhum (cutulu): I just hope people have fun and learn more about the religion of Gor, noticing its a completely different rp than most are used to ,,, the White Caste rp is very interesting for everybody, totally different from what most of gorean players use in their daily lives,

• Hathor01: thank you Holy One

• Hathor01: and thank you for your time

• Thulsa Dhum (cutulu): you are welcome

• Hathor01: may I be allowed to leave Holy One?

– A blessing given follows below

• Terek (kitten.serpente): “Priest-Kings most gracious and pwerful, we, your pilgrim people offer you heart-felt thanks that you have preserved us through the long journey over the burning and barren sands of the Great Desert. We praise you for your merciful goodness and your watchful care of us, and pray that you will continue to show us your favor in the dayas ahead as we travel toward the north and your sacred Sardar Mountains.

• Terek (kitten.serpente): Hear the thanks of your people offered here before your holy symbol, aloud and in their hearts.

• Terek (kitten.serpente) turns to Thulsa. “Will you offer thanks also, Caste-Brother, on behalf of the pilgrims?”

• Thulsa Dhum (cutulu) turns to the pilgrims and rises his rise hand and the staff, making a circle in the air ” May the Priest Kings grant us safe passage through all the lands we shall cross, as they defend us from our enemies , that all those who believe their power and follow their will be blessed by their superior light

• Terek (kitten.serpente): So be it. Ta Sardar Gor!

– Yavuya stepped forward and bowed her head respectfully to the Blessed Ones

• Hathor01: arax, please explain to me how you became a slave, but within the caste of the Initiates

• arax (araxxaxx.bayn): Well, in Kassau (which is one of the stops on the Pilgrimage) the High Initiate there wanted a choir of singing eunuchs. They are slaves purchased by the white Caste, castrated by civil authorities, and trained to sing in the monasteries

• arax (araxxaxx.bayn): My three other choir-brothers were killed in the Kassau Raid forty years ago. I survived.

• arax (araxxaxx.bayn): I ran and hid in the woods, and was found a while later by a slaver… and returned to the White caste for the reward.

• arax (araxxaxx.bayn): I ran and hid in the woods, and was found a while later by a slaver… and returned to the White caste for the reward.

Ticket mood (by Minnie)

• There are some times, reading a Group Chat, I noticed the disarray of someone who railed to binding procedures. Listening only to my heart, I contacted the person in IM to propose my help or at least give him a space of grievances at the Gazette. This was the start of a good feeling. But the good feelings are not always well perceived.

• So maybe he did not understand my hesitant English, but with his reaction, i plunged back a month back in my first contacts with SIMs BTB. One thing, however, is certain, that person has failed to distinguish between the OOC IM and IC Gor. I had a few insults and reprimands on my condition. I will not mention the name of that person because I respect the TOS of SL. But here are some phrases that are quite instructive and show us the quality of this person.

– Get a GE boy friend and stay away
– Another GE bitch that has nothing to do but try to be macho
– I am a man I own GOR
– Shit go back to earth and stop trying
– Shit head
– Yes you do not think
– You are just another ass hole woman with an attitude
– You are the ruin of Gorean Society and the focus of drama
– Die and eat shit
– Fuck of non reading bitch

• So I learned that women had shit in the head. And now I understand the anger of this person. A person, who thinks that women have their natural needs with the head, should study a little the female anatomy. But this great man certainly never knew a woman who wants to offer herself to him:

• Hence his lack of culture on our anatomy and his frustration. And frustration, in a man, starts between his legs and go directly in his head. He must find his pleasure with his hand. He will therefore become deaf. He already is. He listens himself without desiring to hear the other. I can give you all of the IM (without the person’s name). I could also make a report to Linden with this IM. But I believe that everyone can make mistakes. So I’ll forgive. And then that person has had at least one quality: He was honest.

• I came in Gor without knowing Gor, but with an idea. What do you want, an idea never dies. I revere the ideas as much as humans. But the human may be low. Human can be forgotten in the meanders of a fool memory. An idea can change the world. I saw the power of ideas. I’ve seen people kill for ideas, die for them. An idea cant be taken, It can be only softly touched. An idea does not suffer, it burns against the power of arms. It cries when the words have to lay down, in front of tyranny.

• Above all, never forget that Justice, Freedom and Brotherhood are the most beautiful words that humans could write. The weapons can not lock these words. Behind these words there are ideas. These are universal ideas that are still alive. You can try to destroy them. They will be reborn from their ashes.

• Let me freedom of the difference, even if be different means to be in danger. For an idea, I agree to perish for my freedom, I accept death. You can not steal this freedom, you do not know the value. You have lost flavor. You live in your lie, I just give you my truth.

BTB Gor, Lifestyle Gor, Philosophical Gor,Ge Gor (by Homar Wilson – Jarl of Hearthlight)

• What all these things have in common? GOR

• By the book think you read and you interpret the book your way, look at how many different “BY THE BOOK” sims there are, I ask you “Do you know why?” Because you go to any one of them, and get upset because they do not follow YOUR beliefs, Your minds. You claim you are by said book.

• WRONG 1 if you were by that book, you would have named yourself as one of the characters from that book, 2 you do not follow the exact writing of that book, if you did you would live that exact book from the first letter of page one, to the last period of the last chapter.

• Who gives you the right to DICTATE to anyone else in gor “you are not gorean because you do not follow my beliefs”? Who is to say that your beliefs are the only ones that everyone should follow? Are you John Norman? the man that wrote the 33 books? Then how can you honestly say you are BY THE BOOK?

• Lifestyle Goreans, you have your interpretation of how things transpired, as everyone else does. does that make your way right? not really, but again it is YOUR interpretation of GOR

• Philosophical Goreans, you again read and your reading is that YOUR reading of it, how do you honestly know that it is John Norman’s Philosophy of Gor? you read it and you interpret it YOUR WAY.

• Gorean Evolved, NOT DISNEY GOR. do you realise people that by you calling the GE community Disney GOR you belittle yourselves NOT THEM. you insult yourselves because all the rest of you feel that “GE Bastardizes Gor” by segregating yourselves all you do is interrupt the flow of those that want to learn what gor is.

• We are NOT and i emphasize “NOT” all Drones, or Mindless Robots. none of the Fractured Factions of gor are right or wrong, but by your actions you bring back the segregation of the 40’s to the 60’s with the Whites and the Racism of the Blacks. Segregation went out a looong time ago. why are you trying to force it to come back on a world YOU did not write about? but you wish to play in?

• This is suppose to be a world where men are men and women are what? collared or slated to be (my personal interpretation of it) BE the better man, DO NOT judge someone just because he does not follow your mentality. you never know by learning to interact with the other people of GOR you might actually learn something, and be able to teach something rather than trying to reprogram someone and MIND WIPING them to become a Drone. Become what i consider a “Pan-Gorean” someone that will not judge. someone that will find out about that new person that is blindly staggering around your lands. be the person that you met when you first started, “someone that takes the time to guide others” not the one that prejudges them “you are not gorean because you do not believe what i believe”

• And for all of those want to be Priest Kings out there. Until you start paying my tier for my lands, do NOT walk in to my lands and DEMAND that i turn my sim to a “By The Book Sim.” I myself am still untested and untried, but with all of the “By The Book want to be Priest Kings”and their attitudes, I will NEVER look at being a BTB sim, because you REFUSE to listen to me, you sit there and try to choke me with your mentality of what I should be doing. if you do not like my rules? there is teh sim Border. go try to be a god somewhere else, because I have no time for “gods” trying to make me worship them. I Proudly state right here and now ” I Am Native American, I have lived segregation, and being looked down upon for it”. In closing, i do not care which “fractured” Faction of it you are. people We are All Gorean. Learn it Adapt to it, and survive it. Be a Gorean. and Be the Best Gorean you can be.

• And for those that do understand this next Statement, translate it for those that do not. Consider this your war lance driven into the ground of your Lands. Goreans are here to stay no mater race creed color or mental attitude. I love My gor with MINIMAL judgement, but the question is “Can you?”

 SA LYSTA (by Minnie)

• In my search for beautiful SIMs, I used our Google to find advices of many players. And one SIM was often described as well good built land. It s Sa Lysta’s land. Please, find below this message of the Sa Lysta’s band and come discover this place and prepare for great RP with them. For the place, for good RP players in it, come and forget your worries for better dive into a new dream

• Sa Lysta is a Panther group formed following the basic BTB guidelines of Gorean Roleplay. It is not a Pew Pew group, though knowledge of fighting is required to join. Roleplay is our main goal at Sa Lysta…and we strive to creating lasting story lines, we also encourage our members to go out on their own creating their own story lines or obtaining their own roleplay. At the end of the day tribe unity is what we expect to hold the group together. As a member you will be required to defend the camp and your tribe mates.

• We are all here to have fun and enjoy our sl experience and we fully support creative roleplay as long as it follows the basic gorean concept… As a new group we are currently recruiting members…Available positions are as follows….

– Sa Lysta First bow
– Sa Lysta Scout
– Sa Lysta Healer
– and of course Pledges…

• We will in the future be looking for a few slaves. and expect slaves to also have a knowledge of fighting on top of roleplay experience.

• The history behind Sa Lysta…. A group of women running from the male dominance of Gor banned together and set up a camp in the middle of an abandoned ruins site…utilizing the mines below the ground and the stone fixtures as cover from danger…The camp is Large…big enough for personal space and has an antique feel to it…Come check it out…but be prepared to rp your way in. Or IM Leelee143 for an OOC tour.

Defending the Dream (by Mariko Marchant)

• I was told that a GE panther tribe (Var Viverra) had been forced to leave a BtB sim. Some panthers, not Var Viverra, told me, you should wrte about that and they spoke not very friendly about those who run this SIM. (understatement) When I contacted the Saint (quest.tedeschi) who runs the SIM he was not too happy about what was said in all kind of rumors.

• It would have been easy for me and maybe some readers would have liked that more, to focus on the accusations and write a ‘sensational’ article, But the Gazette of Gor aims to bring the BtB and GE worlds together on Gor. When I talk about it with people some say” “That is a wonderful goal” and others say “Good luck with it, that is never going to be happen”.

• Why not? I ask myself and you, the reader of this article. Because both BtB and GE are trying to realize their dreams in Gor on second life. Why focus on differences and not on what BtB and GE has in common? I have many friends in other panther tribes, sometimes we do OOC events and we have fun. Sometimes we fight hard because IC we hate each other. But OOC we are friends. We all need each other on Gor to have fun.
Well to bridge a cap you need to start to create mutual understanding. I hope this artice that consists of two interviews will contribute to that.

Interview with Brenda of the Var Viverra panther tribe

• Mariko Marchant: Thank you Breanda for being available for the interview.
• 乃ŔĖŊĐĄ Şαναgε (brenda.ziplon): yw i like it.

• Mariko Marchant: Beautiful new camp you have.
• 乃ŔĖŊĐĄ Şαναgε (brenda.ziplon): yes we living here now two weeks I ‘am happy here and feeling at home here
.
• Mariko Marchant: it is really an open camp. Why?
• 乃ŔĖŊĐĄ Şαναgε (brenda.ziplon): Yes it is open we like that and looks simple. The previous camp was open too.

• Mariko Marchant: Yopu are not afraid that it is easy to raid?
• 乃ŔĖŊĐĄ Şαναgε (brenda.ziplon): Smiles, no we love raids and yes somtimes is it not easy but that is the fun. We have hills and trees and we are good bow figthers
.
• Mariko Marchant: nods and scribles..so you like to fight?
• 乃ŔĖŊĐĄ Şαναgε (brenda.ziplon): Yes fighting is my passion. I hate long standing in the tribe..smile

• Mariko Marchant: You moved to here..why?
• 乃ŔĖŊĐĄ Şαναgε (brenda.ziplon): Yes we living here now for two weeks. In the other camp we were not welcome as women fighters. That was in Woodhaven.

• Mariko Marchant: Women may not fight there?
• [乃ŔĖŊĐĄ Şαναgε (brenda.ziplon): No, was more for slave girls there.

• Mariko Marchant: it was BtB not GE?
• 乃ŔĖŊĐĄ Şαναgε (brenda.ziplon): BTB

• Mariko Marchant: Ah so because of SIM rules you moved?
• 乃ŔĖŊĐĄ Şαναgε (brenda.ziplon): Yes, because of the rules we moved to here.

• Mariko Marchant: I understand and you are happy here now?
• [乃ŔĖŊĐĄ Şαναgε (brenda.ziplon): Yes yes very happy here is more traffic.

• Mariko Marchant: So more raids? smiles
• 乃ŔĖŊĐĄ Şαναgε (brenda.ziplon): Giggles yes that is my dream that is fulfilled now.

• Mariko Marchant: well thank you for this interview
• 乃ŔĖŊĐĄ Şαναgε (brenda.ziplon): You too It was very pretty..

• Mariko Marchant: Safe paths Brenda

Interview with Saint (quest.tedeschi) who runs the SIM Woodhaven

• Mariko Marchant: thank you for inviting us on your beautiful SIM.
– Saint (quest.tedeschi): You’re quite welcome. We also appreciate company.

• Mariko Marchant: can you tell us something about it?
– Saint (quest.tedeschi): Woodhaven is a trading outpost nestled in the Northern forests. Our secluded location allows us to trade with everyone from traveling Torvaldslanders, those of the South, outlaws, even the occasional panther woman. We have a thriving market, and craft many goods ourselves. There is a mercenary company living nearby that helps keep order, and panther band that makes it necessary.

• Mariko Marchant: so The BtB and the GE world meets here? So to speak
– Saint (quest.tedeschi): We are a BtB sim, but we allow GE players to visit, provided they play BtB while on the sim. We’re trying to bring back the Gor that used to be. I started back in ’06, before everything became about raids and rescues, and focused more on RP and community.

• Mariko Marchant: I see..well you know that that are rumours that a panther tribe had to leave your SIm. can you comment on that please?
– Saint (quest.tedeschi): Well, we had been lead to believe that they held the same ideas we did, as far as BtB RP was concerned. As it turned out, not only did they hardly RP at all, but they were also GE. Now I have nothing against the GE community, it’s just not my style, and having a BtB and GE group in the same sim could lead to all sorts of problems. Considering the differences in play styles, and the fact that they were always AFK, we decided they didn’t fit with our vision for the sim.
There were a few issues with OOC words being exchanged after moderation didn’t go as they had liked, but it was mainly the fact that we wanted a more cohesive vision for what Gor could be again.

• Mariko Marchant: Nods and scribbles..That what the said to me as well..but some are very angry and said we woke up and our camp was gone.
– Saint (quest.tedeschi): I can understand why they may have thought that, and it was unfortunate that things went the way they did. We decided as a group that things were likely to get worse rather than better, as disputes got more heated. It was a case of a few people spoiling it for others I’m afraid.

• Mariko Marchant: Well i think that GE and BtB both work on “Defending the dream”as you have put that beautifully..any comment on that?
– Saint (quest.tedeschi): To be honest, and this may not be a popular opinion, I believe that they are two separate dreams. In BtB sims, people often try to adhere as closely as they can to the books, and the world detailed in them. Given the limitations of Second Life of course. GE however, I feel, tries to cover what they think John Norman might have written if he expanded on a thought, or what he might have “actually meant”. It’s the difference between absolutes and “what ifs”. Again, this is only my opinion, for what it’s worth. I’m all for imagination mind you, but I think you can be just as imaganitive within the framework John Norman provided.

• Mariko Marchant: Well The Gazette of Gor respects all opinions and maybe there will be discussions, but in my opinion. nothing wrong with that. So we thank you very much for this interview.
– Saint (quest.tedeschi) chuckles “If anyone doubts they can have fun in such an environment, they are welcome to come try us for themselves, whether it’s to play, trade, or even raid. In a BtB fashion of course.”

Thank you very much for stopping by. I hope this helps alleviate any questions anyone may have about us, or what may have happened here.

– To conclude: Both the Var Viverra panter camp and the Woodhaven SIM are amazingly beautifully built with passion. They are worth to be visited. Dreams are being realized and defended there and what is wrong with that?

A new land to discover (Sierra Natura) – Land of the panthers tribe Ja’Sheku Jerag (by Naia (noemie Ling))

• I arrived on the new land, at the docks.

• Leaving the dock I proceeded a short way to north west of sim, on the border.

• There is big forest and two pathways , one there is a sign which points to a panther camp and other way towards a tavern.

• Leaving the tavern and I continued north in the forest.

• And arrived in the north of the land , where there is a small village.

• I left and proceeded from the village east of sim, to where there is forest and mountains , and behind there is the panthers camp. The Panthers camp is situated southeast of the sim.

• This was an enjoyable trip and I would encourage you to also to journey along. Please if you have any questions, would be most pleased to answer you via an IM chat.
